Although our travel with The Wild Orange has been limited over the past three months (we have only changed campgrounds once), we have continued to blaze a trail from Austin to Houston as we have made several appearances with our families, attended several dental appointments, spent time at the orthodontist, joined a crowd at a wellness event, and more. While in one respect we are no longer traveling around the country, in another respect we never slowed down. I Was Thinking About the Day I Almost Died The EMTs were standing over me, kneeling in a pool of my blood. Asking me questions to see if I was lucid. “Who is the president?” he asked me. “I don’t want to talk about it,” I said, in my normally inappropriate humor. Have you ever had a moment in your life that made you reevaluate… EVERYTHING? In 2016 Amy and I started talking through our life together. We'd both had some big challenges we had to overcome. And we both sensed that God was telling us there was "More" for us to experience. But we didn't know what that meant. Actually, we still don’t know exactly what that means, but the last three years have been the most memorable of our lives. The truth of the matter is, you aren’t guaranteed tomorrow. f you read through RV listings for a couple hours you’re bound to run across several of them that say something like, “We bought this RV so we could travel after he retired, but then he passed away and so I’m selling it.” What dreams are you selling because you’ve decided to wait until… Amy and I were fortunate. We had a wakeup call early but not everyone has the blessing of almost dying when they’re in their 30s or 40s. So let’s talk about 2021 because, well, we're not dead, and that is a really good thing. As William Wallace was famously quoted as saying, "Every man dies, not every man really lives."

Cold weather can be a hassle. But when you live in an RV, cold weather can be flat out dangerous. Many people travel to exotic places in their RV. But what do you do in winter? What do you do when the weather is really cold? In a sticks-and-bricks (that's RV lingo for "house") your pipes can freeze when the temperature outside drops below freezing. But in an RV, this same issue can be even more devastating. Not only are your pipes more prone to freezing because they are thinner, but the majority of your pipes could be exposed to the elements under the RV. In this video we'll be working through some of the ways to get yourself ready for winter. And hint - your prep doesn't start when the snow begins. How can we take your holiday meal from "typical tryptophan trauma" to "Tantalizing Tastebud Tingling Treasure" this year? Maybe you thought this was a recipe you could only get at that one restaurant (did you just have a Pavlov moment too? Or was it just me?), but I'm here to tell you that even a noob like me can make it here in our "deluxe" (hahahahahaha!) RV kitchen. All you need is a big pot and a few ingredients, so this is something you can do in your own home. So pull out a pen and paper as we talk about the basics of starting a Roux (the foundation of your gumbo), developing a stock, what to look for in a hot sauce, what ingredient you should do without, and which sausage will make your tastebuds sing.
